The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the feasibility and safety of treating intermittent and chronic atrial fibrillation using a minimally invasive approach. The surgical procedure to be tested in this study uses a device, the AtriCure Isolator™ to ablate (heat and destroy) tissue of the left atrium near the pulmonary veins using bipolar radiofrequency energy. Scars are formed where the tissue is ablated that will create new paths for the electrical currents in the heart. This may stop the atrial fibrillation.
