To determine the safety and efficacy of the HeartMate II LVAS as a bridge to transplant in end-stage heart failure patients who are listed for cardiac transplant but are at an imminent risk of dying. To determine the safety and efficacy of the HeartMate II LVAS as destination therapy in end-stage heart failure patients who are ineligible for cardiac transplant.
