The purpose of this trial is to look at real world applications of
drug-eluting stents and off pump CABG surgery in centers where both
are clinically available for use. This retrospective study will compare
procedural outcomes and direct health care costs for 5 years following
coronary revascularization in four groups of patients:
Percutaneous
coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DES)
PCI
with bare-metal stents
Coronary
artery bypass grafting (CABG) using cardiopulmonary bypass pump
CABG
performed on patients without the use of coronary bypass pump |
All patients undergoing
a coronary revascularization procedure at the clinical sites will be
enrolled in the study at the time the procedure is performed. Each site
will obtain IRB approval with a waiver of authorization for this study.
Patients will be classified into one of the four study groups based
on the coronary revascularization procedure they are undergoing.
