ATHENA-A placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel arm trial to assess the efficacy of study drug 400mg bid for the prevention of cardiovascular hospitalization or death from any cause in patients with atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter (AF/AFL)

The purpose of the ATHENA study is to look at how well study drug prevents cardiovascular hospitalizations and death from any cause in high risk patients with atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter.
The study will also look at how well study drug is tolerated in this population.
