ACCOMPLISH (Avoiding Cardiovascular Events through COMbination Therapy in Patients LIving with Systolic Hypertension)

A comparison of Lotrel (amlodipine/benazepril) to benazepril/hydrochlorothiazide in patients with hypertension, a low ejection fraction (<40%) and one of the following: history of a myocardial infarction, unstable angina, CABG, PTCI, stroke, PVD, carotid endarterectomy, diabetes, or creatinine >1.5. This study will examine fatal and non-fatal heart-related events. Long term safety and how well the patients are managed with the two treatments will be assessed.
