Tea E. Acuff is a cardiothoracic surgeon leading CSANT's the Denton practice. Board Certified in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Acuff has spent the past twenty years performing, and refining, the most advanced cardiac surgical procedures. His medical training began at the University of Tennessee for Health Sciences where he received his M.D. in 1978. He then completed his internship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Acuff remained at UT Southwestern to complete residencies in both general and cardiothoracic surgery.

After joining the CSANT physician group in 1985, Dr. Acuff opened the group's Denton location and launched the area's first heart surgery program at the Denton Regional Hospital. Just a few years later, he initiated the first such program at the Denton Community Hospital in 1999. With a strong interest in advancing cardiac research and refining surgical approaches, Dr. Acuff co-founded the Cardiopulmonary Research Science and Technology Institute (CRSTI). He has been intensely involved in clinical studies for minimally invasive bypass surgery, beating heart surgery and laser technology. He has been instrumental in the development and refinement of surgical devices designed to make cardiac surgery less invasive, earning Center of Excellence designations for the institutions in which he practices. Dr. Acuff performed Denton's first Ross Procedure in 2000, and continues his specialized training in advanced cardiac surgical approaches.

Dr. Acuff is on staff at several North Texas hospitals and has recently expanded his surgical practice, adding two cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons.
