ABOUT US
Clinical research has shifted dramatically over the last several years - from an academic-based cottage industry to a corporate-based global concern. The pace at which science and technology is advancing mandates that new products, devices and methods be continuously evaluated for safety and effectiveness.
The Cardiopulmonary Research Science and Technology Institute (CRSTI) was created
to fulfill these growing demands. CRSTI is using this vital opportunity to focus
physicians and resources on new cardiovascular treatments and technologies that
will enhance patients care and clinical outcomes.
As cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death and disability
in America, the institute is devoted to advancing knowledge and therapies for
these disorders through assessment, education and research.
CRSTI offers access to a large loyal patient population and the critical thinking of leading clinical practitioners; it provides organizational efficiency and focus.
Research programs and
dedicated participating physicians are helping the community gain immediate
access to leading-edge technology that may someday save their lives. From
robotic-assisted enhancements and laser technology, to advanced cardiac medicines
and minimally invasive cardiac surgical techniques, CRSTI is making a difference
in the lives of patients.
Mission
To foster and promote the medical research and education that benefits
the health of the community and to facilitate the physicians' ability to deliver
state-of-the-art medical care, access new therapies, and improve quality clinical
outcomes.
Vision
To lead a regional and national forum that will advance and promote medical research and outcomes assessment relative to heart, lung and circulatory disease.
Strategy
Design management programs that include mechanisms for evaluating the quality of patient care and methods for assessing clinical outcomes; design prospective studies to answer important questions related to patient care.
Perform retrospective analyses on patient data in order to answer specific research questions, test hypotheses, conduct pilot and feasibility studies; provide access to and analysis of trends and research regarding the management of cardiovascular disease.
Collaborate with sponsoring organizations, agencies and institutions to gather and utilize data that demonstrates product effectiveness and value; collaborate with relevant organizations to institute research protocols that address important clinical questions; develop research partnerships with healthcare providers on a local, regional and national basis.
Promote educational conferences; provide resources for continuing medical education; foster publication and presentation of research data in local and regional, national and international forums.
Goals
CRSTI is committed to quality research and initiatives that enhance patient
care by:
- Advancing medical science through partnerships
with government and industry to develop new approaches to patient care
- Providing research on outcomes to foster a data-driven
environment
- Providing education and training to the medical community
- Establishing systems to collect, manage and
