The Edwards SAPIEN transcatheter heart valve, developed by Edwards Lifesciences, gives patient who are considered high-risk or non-operable an alternative to traditional aortic valve replacement surgery.

TAVR patient decides to give back by knitting caps for newborns.

98-year-old World War II veteran Joe Burkett needed a new aortic valve. Because of his age, however, he was not a candidate for open heart surgery.
